“I took inspiration from Vidal Sassoon’s transformative approach to hair cutting and its ethos based on shapes, structure and geometry,” said Darcie of this single model collection. “We found our model (Lianne), with really grown out hair. Like a client going to Sassoon’s back in the day, she was ready to be transformed and not asking many questions – simply trusting the process.”

“Darcie had sole focus on design and cut,” added photographer Nádia, “and it was completely tailored to the model’s lifestyle and bone structure. It was about exposing the relationship between client and hairdresser – the evolution of creating the perfect haircut and the confidence boost you have once you walk out of the salon. Capturing the process was key as well as featuring how someone’s identity can be altered through hair.”

“I chose a simple colour placement that would work with all four haircuts and would create a highlight where styling should follow,” said Darcie of the inclusion of a copper fringe. “Together these techniques created a high end, expensive feel.”

“The first look, the page boy, is an all time classic,” she continued, “Hiding Lianne’s face and who she is felt like the perfect starting to point to convey our story.

“When we moved onto the second look, we began exposing her face and jawline with a fringe and half a bob,” Darcie added. “Leaving the back longer really accentuated the length of her neck. Styled slightly more athletically, it was the perfect build up for something a bit ‘cooler’.

“Thirdly, we had the beret, a lot edgier than the previous cuts and something that started to show Lianne’s cheeky side. This also made the colour look completely different having her natural colour laying over the gold creating a choppier texture.

“Finally, we created the crop,”  Darcie explained. “We see Lianne in her full glory, looking very strong. The crop is probably the boldest style for a woman – the exude femininity without much hair is beautiful. Totally stripped back and showcasing bone structure in its simplicity.”
